Movies

Rushmore
Wes Anderson, director

One of the sweetest and funniest movies of the 90s. Some people didn't like the main character, but I found him fascinating and charming in a squirmy sort of way. Also one of the best and least contrived happy endings I've seen in a movie recently. Bill Murray is great!

Books

Motherless Brooklyn
Jonathan Lethem

A mystery novel told in the first person by a young man who suffers from Tourette's Syndrome. The mystery plot itself is stretched a little thin, but this is a real tour de force by a writer to watch.

STING
At Peoria Civic Center

STING-Came to the Peoria Civic Center last week, IS perhaps one of the calmest performers I've ever seen, and he is able to exert a calmness you connect to, just by being in his mere presence. Or at least I did..
The guy is cool, and it felt great to be even stage close. I felt like I had made contact with him from the moment he appeared and walked directly to the front of the stage where I was positioned.
Sting made every effort for us to get good shots by positioning himself as often as he could, in front of one reporter or another.
The ticket sales were over 5,000 which is by far under the expected, but the fans that were there, were loyal and let Sting know it. And for those of you who missed the show, well I can only say you have missed an inspiring performance from a performer who is definitely at one with the forces around him.
Sting effortlessly made each song sound enchanting, and the melodies were such that you had to move with the beat.
The show was great, the backup was great, and I have become a deeper Sting fan with a new admiration for the artist.
Thanks KSA & Interscope.
